Your label's 15th-year anniversary just passed. Have you always dreamed of becoming a fashion designer?

Not Really! The seed was planted when I was 19 or so.

Can you paint us a portrait of the epitome of a Rebecca Taylor woman?

She is feminine, confident, and has a sense of humor. She is a free hippie spirit!

What is your inspiration for the Fall 2011 collection?

I am inspired by a 70's Parisian night club feel and women like Jerry Hall and Bianca Jagger.

You say that the line is based on an "unconventional color sense." What mix of colors are you loving right now?

I'm in love with citrus! One of my all time favorites is lime and pale pink.

As a New Zealand-born designer, what do you consider the biggest difference between New York and New Zealand fashion?

I've been here so long now! I don't consider myself a typical NZ designer. My look was always more feminine and my usage of color was more bold than my peers.

Your clothes have appeared on the fashion hit Sex and the City. What show would you love to style for today?

Mad Men!

What are you wearing today?

I am wearing a silk tee, cashmere cardigan, skinny black pants and my black booties.

How have you seen the contemporary market change/grow in the last 10 years?

There are many more vendors than when we first started...It's become a very important resource for both people looking to spend "down" and spend "up".

There are talks of you collaborating with Michelle Trachtenberg. Are there any other celebrities you would like to design with?

Kate Hudson. I love feminine, hippy, and free spirit!

What is one trend you would like to see never repeat itself?

Really big shoulder pads! Nothing good can come from that.

How do you see the Rebecca Taylor empire growing in the future?

We are really excited about our retail expansion! I definitely see us opening boutiques in London, Paris, and Milan!
