What is the best advice you can give when choosing swimwear that most flatters a woman's body?

The one thing I love about designing bikinis is creating shapes and silhouettes for all different body types. For an athletic figure, boyshorts seem to flatter the most and are great for if you are active. If you are smaller on top, I would suggest something with ruffles to add shape and definition. Bandeaus look great too, no tan lines ladies. Our one-pieces are very popular as well because no matter what body type you have they slim the waistline, and if you are looking for a tad more coverage you can't go wrong.

TAVIK is a Southern California brand that exemplifies individuality and empowerment. It blends energy, music, and motion to create some explosive designs. What would you say is the inspiration behind the Fall 2011 swimwear line?

When I design I don't necessarily follow the trends. I love mixing bold, bright, and neon colors in my prints no matter what season it is, creating something eye-catching. My inspiration for the Spring 2011 Collection was the allure of the 60's, as well as Brigitte Bardot and Valley of the Dolls. For Summer 2011 Collection I was inspired by a road trip I took down to Baja California, very bright colors and vibrant prints, like when you close your eyes, you envision a tropical paradise.

Other than an allusion to 70s bold prints and lace detailing, what are some other designs you are showcasing for the Spring 2011 line? For these collections we worked with some new silhouettes.

The most popular style has been the Sophia Top, inspired by a cropped vintage tank top, transformed into a bikini top! Another popular style is the leopard print Bandita Top which is more of a bralette style top with actual bra hooks and sliders. I LOVE to wear the Banditas a bra when I want a pop of color to show with a loose tank.

How do you see the TAVIK brand growing in the future?

Over the past two years the swim line has grown so much we would love to expand the line into a ready to wear contemporary line, using the same bright and fun concepts that the swim line exemplifies, to create a southern California contemporary chic line.

How do you think the brand markets best to an East Coast customer?

I think the brand markets the East Coast because we are fresh and new and we offer something different from most other "surf" companies from the west coast. It's the cali girl/ LA style for everyone to enjoy!

Which celebrity would you love to see in TAVIK swimwear?

Do I have to pick just one? I would love to see the infamous Kate Moss rocking a Tavik Bikini, she is such a fashion icon. Sticking along those lines, I would be so honored to see Sienna Miller or Kate Bosworth in one of my designs. Both of their sense of style inspires me, and it would be such a treat.

What is one trend you would never like to see repeat itself?

Shoulder pads. eeek
